Why this site?
Why this site?
We welcome travellers in two places we love: a duplex in the heart of Gérardmer and a tiny house on stilts in Talais. We welcome them ourselves, as in a holiday cottage or a bed and breakfast: real contact, local tips, a well-kept place.
What has changed. The big booking platforms have made renting more accessible, and they have brought us some lovely encounters. But their model has evolved. Fees often exceed 20% of the price of the stay and are split sometimes on the host, sometimes on the traveller, sometimes on both, without it always being clear who pays what. Little by little, the spirit of cottages and bed and breakfasts, made of trust and attachment to a region, gives way to an “uberisation” driven from abroad, in which the host becomes an interchangeable service provider.
Our choice. We chose another, simpler path: this site. Here you book directly, you see the full price before paying and you talk to the person who welcomes you. What is not absorbed in platform fees stays in the accommodation, in our region and in the quality of the welcome.
And if you prefer to go through a third party. Other models exist. GreenGo, for example, is a French booking platform for responsible accommodation, which announces a 14% commission including VAT for hosts, with no subscription. It is a clearer solution, closer to our values, for those who wish to book through a third party.
Booking direct is not standing against anyone: it is choosing a more transparent, more human tourism, more rooted in places.
A friends’ company
La Résilience is a friends’ property company (SCI La Résilience, Paris 12th) that rents out two homes: a duplex in Gérardmer, in the Hautes-Vosges, and Tiny’Loudi, a tiny house on stilts in Talais, in the Médoc, next to Aloudi House.
Valerian, owner. Originally from the south-east of France and settled in the Vosges, Valerian is a consultant for companies. His many business trips and his outdoor hobbies made him want to fit out homes such as he would like to find himself: practical, calm and warm, designed for recharging.
A welcome close to home. In Gérardmer, travellers are welcomed by our family concierge service. In Talais, our neighbour acts as the tiny house’s concierge.
To prepare your stay, the tourist offices are our best advisers: Gérardmer Hautes Vosges for the Vosges, Médoc Atlantique for Talais and Soulac.
